A.M.F drink

A.M.F DRINK
(ALPHA MIKE FOXTROT)

ALPHA! MIKE! FOXTROT! OR
ADIOS MOTHERFUCKER!

Here's a big-ass drink. I mean really. Belongs to the series with Irish Trash Can or Long Island Iced Teas, the A.M.F - drink is "oh one of THOSE!" - styled cocktails, which I would recommend making at home if at all. With a beautiful and tropical color, this drink is very very deceitful! Let's take a look:
  • 1.5 cl vodka
  • 1.5 cl rum (white)
  • 1.5 cl tequila (100% de agave)
  • 1.5 cl gin
  • 1.5 cl blue curacao
  • 6 cl sweet & sour mix (I just used 3 cl each fresh lemon juice and simple syrup mixed together)
  • 6 cl (or to top) sprite/7-Up lemonade
  • Orange/lemon/lime/cocktail cherry garnish
Super easy to make! With a big glass filled roughly half-way with ice, just pour in everything, give it a little stir and top it with lemonade. BOOM! Done! I did make two variations to it, using regular sprite and the now-only-available -30% less sugar sprite and I have to say, the latter tasted better. The first version was overly sweet, which isn't really surprising if you look at the list, three of them being sugary products (curacao, sugar syrup, lemonade). Otherwise, as my friend noted, it's the "alco-pop of spirits" :D Easy to down and gets you drunk fast. Which, in accordance to this cocktail's name is quite right.

Irish Trash Can

IRISH TRASH CAN

A trash can. Its content tastes pretty good :D
Hey everyone! Today's special is called the Irish Trash Can. This drink was actually a request by a reader and I decided to pull it off. In two weeks time I'll make this as a video with a good friend of mine but for the picture I wanted to make it myself.

So...the Irish Trash Can. A big bunch of everything.
  • 1.5 cl gin
  • 1.5 cl vodka
  • 1.5 cl light rum
  • 1.5 cl peach schnapps
  • 1.5 cl triple sec
  • 1.5 cl blue curacao
  • 1 can of red bull
Add all ingredients (except for the red bull) in a big glass filled with ice, stir gently, crack open the energy drink and add it into the glass (see picture).

Some call for using a straw and drink it as fast as possible...okay that will get you wasted fast. I had the patience to assess the drink (:D) and sip it slowly. This drink tastes candy-ish! The peach flavor comes forth nicely and the "can" is otherwise very "balanced". It's a sweet drink (literally). If you have the ingredients and the glasses for it, this'll make a "fun" house party drink!

The Heart Eater

THE HEART EATER

This is a story about a young man that ventured in the Great Plains of North America on a cold December night, 1841, in hopes of great adventure and fortune. It is purely fictional.

"To travel is to live."
- Hans Christian Andersen, 1805-1875

The winter breeze was strong tonight. Like any other night, Jedediah was walking in the woods with his companion, Jasper, in the middle of practically nowhere, finding shelter from the incoming storm. They had traveled for some time already and with the help of the North Star he was hoping to find Cheyenne, their next stop.

Hours after hours but still no sign of civilization. Jedediah was calm in mind. Their rations were close on ending but he was strong of will, and ammo. And no matter what they said, tonight he would hunt his very first bison.

Finally a glimpse of light in the horizon. A glimpse of hope for both of the travelers. They climbed the foothill and it felt like the highest mountain they've ever climbed so far. Jasper was getting weary. Jedediah on the other hand felt like a victor.

They opened the front door, that made a heavy cracking sound. They were welcomed with a warmth that radiated from the interior. But not a single soul could be seen. They both quickly closed the door shut and gasped silently; here they could rest for a while, albeit Jedediah knew he would soon go out again.

A man shows up from a room close to the counter. He smiles at Jedediah and Jasper and greets them; "Welcome, kinsmen. What brings you two here? Rest? Food? I can provide you with both. Then again, the storm is closing in on us, please, have a seat." The men sat down and dropped their gear on the ground. "You're hunters, aren't you?" He continued.
"Yes. And the night is not over yet." Jedediah replied with great confidence.
"Oh really? I know the wilds is flourishing with small game, I'm just not sure whether you should go out now when the breeze is getting stronger by the minute." The man said.
"Yes, really. I'm going to hunt us a bison." Jedediah said and looked the man straight in the eyes.

The man went silent. He then turned and walked towards the counter, grabbed two mugs and poured a honey-smelling liquid from a small-ish barrel on the wall. He sighed: "I don't think that's a good idea. Be assured though, if you ever do kill a bison, make sure to bring me its heart and I will make you a dish you shall never forget. Bring me its soul and I will make you a champion." The man said, brought the mugs to Jedediah and Jasper and lowered his hand on Jedediah's shoulder.

"I promise you that." He continued.

Jasper gulped down the drink and told Jedediah that he would get some rest. Jedediah nodded back with respect and started to clean his rifle. The man watched him closely throughout the operation. After a small while, Jedediah grabbed his gear again, thanked the man for the drink, grabbed his rifle and said:

"Don't you worry. I will be back in a little while."

Jedediah was not to be seen until the following morning.

The morning was perfectly clear. The storm never reached the lodge that was hidden among the trees. Jasper was worried that his companion would not return. The owner of the lodge told him that he saw a fiery passion for hunting in Jedediah's eyes when he said he would go after that bison.

"Don't you worry. He will be back in a little while." The man said.

And Jedediah did. The door opened and inside walked a man with blood on his hands. He laid his rifle on the wall and walked straight to the owner. He then opened his knapsack and inside some linen wraps he presented him the heart of a bison.

"Here, as requested. I complied your deed, now fill our need." Jedediah said following a big smile. The man took the heart and went in the kitchen. The preparation took him a decent amount of time. But what he presented Jedediah with was to be the most extraordinary experience he ever encountered:

Jedediah drank the concoction and immediately felt stronger inside. This is what he needed. This was it. In the afternoon, Jedediah and Jasper left. But before they reached the door, Jedediah turned to the man and said:

"By the way, what is your name?"

"They call me Hendrick's". The man replied with a smile.

The Heart Eater
  • 3 cl Hendrick's Gin (1 fl. oz)
  • 1.5 cl Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka (0.5 fl. oz)
  • 4.5 cl grapefruit juice (1.5 fl. oz)
  • 1.5 cl simple syrup (0.5 fl. oz)
  • 1 cl Blue Curacao (1/3 fl. oz)
  • a cocktail cherry
Shake the first four ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, doublestrain into a ice-cold cocktail glass (put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes or so), then gently pour the blue curacao in the middle of the drink and finally drop a cherry in the middle.

The Chronosphere

The Chronosphere

"We have also earnt the right to be the first to test the newest addition to our arsenal, the Chronosphere."
-Gunter von Esling introducing the Chronosphere

Legends say, Albert Einstein built this phenomenal device in 1946 to help the Allies against Stalin's forces. In 2012, Celestino built this phenomenal shooter to help people chronoshift into bars or if used too rapidly, to the bathroom.

I introduce you to the Chronosphere!

To create this mind blowing (freezing) experience, you need to do some preparations. All ingredients, including the glass should be frozen cold

  • 2 cl Sambuca
  • 2 cl Blue curacao
  • a small lime wedge
Fill a shot glass with crushed ice, half-way fill it with sambuca and carefully pour in the curacao. Remember that the curacao will freeze solid if held too long in the freezer. What I did was put it in the fridge first and in the freezer only for about 1½ hours so the liquod became thicker but wasn't completely frozen. Add a lime wedge (you can press the juices on top of the drink), stick a small straw in the glass and with one sip finish your drink!

Phoooie!

Sambuca's anise-flavors combined with the citrus from the curacao make an interesting combination. A few variations of the Chronosphere will be made, one with peppermint schnapps and one made in a tumbler, for a "longer" drink.

Blue Lagoon

BLUE LAGOON

Inspired by the far most greatest movie of all time, here's one of the summer hit cocktails everybody knows!

Just look how awfully I've made these Blue Lagoons in the past. Oh gosh!

Now here's a properly made cocktail, at least visual-wise!

This cocktail does not need much of an effort to make but hot damn it sure does look fine!
  • 2 cl vodka
  • 2 cl blue curacao
  • lemonade (sprite/7Up)
Build this drink in a highball glass filled with ice cubes. Garnish with a lemon, lime or even add a sprig of mint like I did (*edit* when I was young and didn't know better)!
Taste-wise, it's hardy mentionable. I believe the visual effect gives more than it actually tastes like. Not being a strong cocktail either, you can have a couple of these with great ease. And if you haven't had one before...I feel sorry for you. Not a true "classic", but a famous drink nonetheless.
(unlike the movie, it sucked)

Post-edit 2013

So I made this cocktail once again, third time's the charm. Having learnt the art of...cocktail making (and perhaps a little bit of photography [given with the equipment I have at my disposal]) you can really see how the earlier pictures are quite horrible compared to my newest one; kind of like when I made three Mojitos in six years. You can really see the difference.

Still didn't make the cocktail any better. Better looking, yes. Better tasting? Absolutely not.

Alien Brain Hemorrhage

ALIEN BRAIN HEMORRHAGE

This is the alien brain hemorrhage. I bumped into this shot from a couple of web sites and decided to give it a go. The shot itself has easy-to-get ingredients and doesn't take too much effort to make either.

What you need is
  • ½ a shot of peach schnapps
  • ⅓ a shot of cream liquor (Baileys)
  • a small amount of blue curaçao liqueur
  • small amount of grenadine
First fill the shot glass with the peach schnapps. Then carefully pour the cream liquor on top using a small (bar) spoon. After the two ingredients have settled, add a small amount (I used a tea spoon amount) of curaçao in the middle of the drink. Finally, add the grenadine (approximately the same amount as with the curaçao). The grenadine will sink to the bottom and create this very nice effect.
As for the taste, this is something everyone should try at least once. The grenadine dominates the taste quite a lot for being so sweet but I really enjoyed it.
